UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice is pleased to announce we are one of three Vermont organizations to receive the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence in Supporting Mature Workers. The inaugural awards were presented by the Governor’s Commission on Successful Aging during a luncheon at the state’s annual conference of the Society of Human Resource Management on September 8.
Toby Young, Chair of the Governor’s Commission on Successful Aging says, “Considering Vermont’s demographic trends as well as its highly skilled mature population, it is only appropriate to honor those employers who are ‘doing it right’. We’ve found that policies that support mature workers are policies that support all employees.”
Since its founding by a group of pioneering nurses in 1906, UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice has provided high-quality healthcare and support to individuals and families in private homes and community settings throughout Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties. Today, we offer a full range of services and programs, providing care that spans a lifetime. The agency’s recruitment and retention efforts are focused on employing staff that represent the populations we serve. The UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice’s current workforce ranges in age from 18 to the mid-80’s with approximately 35% of the agency’s employees over the age of 55.
