All is well at the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice! On March 21, the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties was awarded a 2018 Vermont Governor’s Award for Excellence in Worksite Wellness.

The annual award recognizes Vermont employers who promote onsite physical fitness and a healthy-work life balance. In the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice Wellness Program’s first year, it hosted seminars on financial planning, stress management and nutrition, started a bike share program and fostered broad participation in its step challenges.

“UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice has made a clear commitment to the process of planning a comprehensive wellness strategy,” Lisa Yaeger, vice president of human resources, said.

For these efforts, Gov. Phil Scott, health commissioner Mark Levine and Janet Franz, chair of the Vermont Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, celebrated the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice and 80 other entities at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Burlington last month.

“Employers in Vermont have come to understand that physically fit workers are more productive, engaged and invested in their careers,” Franz said in a press release. “There’s a clear link between healthy, happy employees and an organization’s success.”

The award ceremony coincided with an all-day Worksite Wellness Conference, where recipients shared best practices for influencing employees to make healthy choices in and out of the office.

With over 600 employees, the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice falls into the 501-999 employee category and accompanied Brattleboro Retreat, Burton Snowboards, City of Burlington, Copley Hospital, Health Care and Rehabilitation Services, North Country Hospital, Northwestern Counseling & Support Services, Inc., Northwestern Medical Center, The Vermont Country Store, UVM Health Network Porter Medical Center and Washington County Mental Health Services.
