New Event! VNA Way to Go!

  • Virtual Online Fundraiser
  • March 1-20, 2010

Our first time out of the gate with this new event was a huge success. More than 6,850,000 steps were logged by 111 participants and $9,000 was raised for the VNA. One participant had this to say about VNA Way to Go!

"I wanted you to know I started walking March 1 and in my first week of walking, I walked a total of 26.7 miles. I have continued on the same course, walking along the lake every Saturday and Sunday. Just to let you know how excited I am about this and how good I feel from walking, I started doing Yoga at 6am every morning for 30 minutes! I feel great!"

This event combined the benefits of a wellness program with the opportunity to support the VNA and the work it does for the community.

It provides much needed educational activities and services that assist and help strengthen young families at no charge to participants. These programs include children’s playgroups, a community garden project, sewing and cooking classes, an accredited pre-school and mothers’ and fathers’ programs. The Vermont Respite House 5K Fun Run & Jiggety Jog continues to be the single largest annual fundraiser for the Respite House, Vermont's only Medicare-certified hospice home. Vermont Respite House is a home-away-from-home where terminally ill individuals can live out their remaining days in peace, surrounded by the love of family and friends. Every dollar raised from the Fun Run goes directly toward providing room, board, personal care and special services for residents, regardless of their ability to pay.

On Saturday, May 8, 182 participants walked, jogged, skated and biked in memory or in honor of a loved on, raising approximately $35,000 to benefit the Vermont Respite House.
