Powerful Tools for Caregivers

Caring for a family member or a loved one can be challenging. As a family caregiver, you may experience increased stress and often feel overwhelmed by the responsibilities. Your VNA offers education and support designed to help you become more comfortable in your role as a caregiver. This 6-week program is designed to empower family caregivers of older adults to take better care of themselves.
Classes are led by VNA staff certified as Powerful Tools for Caregivers class leaders. VNA class leaders also bring with them their experience and expertise in caring for persons in the home. A donation of $25 is appreciated, but not required.

VNA Seminar: A Conversation Worth Having
at the Vermont 50+ and Baby Boomers Expo

As an event sponsor this year, the VNA is hosting a seminar on how to start the conversation with loved ones about end-of-life care options, a topic that is often hard to talk about, but is becoming increasingly relevant for Baby Boomers and their aging parents.

Education Workshop: The Basics: Memory Loss, Demenetia and Alzheimer's Disease

If you or someone you know is affected by Alzheimer's disease or dementia, it is time to learn the facts. The VNA offers this education program presented by the Vermont Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association that provides information on detection, causes and risk factors, stages of the disease, treatment and much more.

Education Workshop: Legal Planning for the Caregiver

You are the caregiver of a loved one with special needs or dementia and need to plan for a time when you are not able to provide that care or predecease them. Attorney Glenn A. Jarrett, principal of Jarrett Law Office, PLC will discuss the positive legal solutions that can be done when you plan properly.
- What happens if you are not around to make decisions in this person's life?
- What happens to the money? What if the money runs out?
- Who will take care of them?
- Receiving an inheritance may disqualify them for government benefits. Who controls the inheritance?
