Private Care Services Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know what services I need or how many hours I need a week?
An initial, in-person, free of charge assessment visit will help you determine what services will best meet your needs and how often they occur. Our staff is trained in assessing care and safety needs in the home setting.
How long will it take to set up the first visit?
The private care scheduler works closely with our caregivers to quickly respond to your needs. We strive to set-up services matched to your preferences. Care usually begins on the date you request.
Do you accept insurance?
Services are typically paid for privately by clients or their family members. Medicare, Medicaid, and supplemental policies do not pay for Private Care services. If you have a long-term care insurance policy, we will work with you to determine coverage.
Do you perform background checks for your caregivers?
Yes, we use multiple sources for a thorough review. All caregivers are carefully screened, trained, bonded and covered by Workers' Compensation. To ensure the highest quality care is being provided, regular training sessions continually upgrade the knowledge and skills of our staff.
Can I decide to change the services or hours at any time?
Yes. You can change your service and hours at any time. We understand that your situation may change unexpectedly and we will work with you to be sure your needs are met.
I don't need medical care, why is a nurse overseeing my care?
VNA nurses work regularly with our caregivers to be sure the care we are providing is addressing your needs. Our nurses are specifically trained in home safety, including the use of the best techniques for helping people walk and move about at home. Our nurse will personally visit or check in with you by phone at least every 6 months to evaluate your health status, encourage healthy behaviors, and recommend any changes to your care in order to keep you safe and at home.
If any urgent or unexpected health related issues do occur, our VNA Private Care nurse can help expedite care for you from other health care team members. This is a special benefit of choosing VNA Private Care.
Are you certified or licensed by the state to provide these services?
The VNA is a Medicare-certified home care agency and is accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Hospitals and Health Systems. As a Medicare certified agency, we are the preferred provider for long term care insurances. We are also members of the National Private Duty Association (NPDA). Please check our website to learn more about NPDA standards.
