Adult Day Program

Our VNA Adult Day Program is a great option for seniors and adults who have a desire to continue living independently, but who may need assistance or help with daily activities. Our programs also provide valuable respite and support to family caregivers.

Social and recreational activities are combined with nursing assessments, medication administration, therapeutic services, and appropriate levels of exercise. Healthy snacks and hot meals are also served, providing 70% of the daily nutritional requirements. All of this is offered in a comfortable, home-like environment and is overseen by registered nurses, licensed nursing assistants, activitiy specialists and dedicated volunteers.

Your VNA has three adult day programs located in Colchester, South Burlington and Williston. Our program located in South Burlington at Grand Way Commons specializes in caring for persons with memory loss. Our Dementia Care Day Program offers activities and an environment unique to the needs of persons with dementia. Support groups and educational workshops are also offered to the community at this location.

The safe and home-like settings of our adult day program are open to elderly people and adults with physical or cognitive impairments. Participants receive comprehensive health, social and therapeutic services that help maintain levels of functionality, promote physical and mental health and delay admission to a nursing home.

As a family caregiver, you benefit from the valuable respite, support and education we offer. You can choose the schedule that best meets the needs of your loved one or the needs of you as the caregiver. You are able to continue with your lives while ensuring the health and safety of your loved one.

“The Adult Day Program has provided stimulation for my mother, helping slow the progression of her Alzheimer’s. For my daughter, who cares for her, it gives her some time to recoup and get things done around the house. Because it gives my daughter a break, we haven’t had to make the decision to move my mother into a nursing home.”
